The biggest challenge – of the many challenges facing community professionals – is that the job can be so isolating. A hard job gets harder when you don’t have a like-minded team to brainstorm with, bounce idea off of and generally commiserate about the work you do.
After years of building connection between our members online, we’ve branched out and launched a series of in-person community workshops. The inaugural TheCR Connect took place this past October at Akamai in Cambridge, MA and was an amazing day where members came together to share ideas, work through community challenges and connect over big community topics - and have a little fun.
The day was more than we expected – the interactions we witnessed and relationships that were formed or strengthened made all the hard work worth it. I was particularly pleased by the feedback we received from participants who have been in a community role for a while and looking for a different kind of event and told us we succeeded in creating a space for them to explore advanced topics more deeply.
I'm excited to be taking TheCR Connect on the road – next stop: Santa Clara, CA!
